My name is Robin Lambert and I work for Scottish Water in Edinburgh and have been raising funds for WaterAid by running fly fishing competitions. Over the last 5 years I have raised just over £60.000 for WaterAid from the various competitions. Full details of the competitions can be found on the official Flyfish for WaterAid website.
My brother John works for Parcel Force in Edinburgh as a driver, and like myself is a mad keen amateur fly fisherman.
What we are hoping for between now and the end of the 48 hours Fly Fishing Marathon is to raise as much money for the two charities as we possibly can.
Hopefully if everything goes well and the official event website has been passed along to everyone that you know, we just might reach the £500.000 target. Click on the link below to view the website and make a kind donation on the secure Paypal donate button:-
Fly fishing for 48 hours will be a hard task to complete but it will be well worth it to raise money for the charities. Myself and my brother John will start fishing at 9am on Thursday 29 July 2010 until 9am on Saturday 31 July 2010 on the Lake of Menteith in Stirlingshire, Scotland.
The only time we will stop during the marathon will be for meal and toilet breaks, unless we get too tired later into the marathon and for Health & Safety reasons we will have a quick nap (on a rotation system) to recover.
The two charities that will benefit from the sponsoship money raised will be:-
WaterAid
WaterAid is an international charity and works in 17 countries. Their mission is to overcome poverty by enabling the world's poorest people to gain access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene education.
