Flyfish for WaterAid 2010 Competition Rules

The Flyfish for WaterAid Competition is open to all keen Amateur Fly Fishermen/women.

The competition will be run as per the Event Fisheries Rules. All fishing will be from the bank only.

Entry Forms and Rules:- These can be obtained from Markle Fishery office

Entry Fee: - The entry fee is the cost of the days fishing plus £5.00 administration costs

Placing: - Results will be determined by the heaviest bag weight of fish. If there are equal weights between competitors then the number of fish caught determines the winner (or heaviest individual fish caught).

Duration of Competition - The start and finishing times of the competition will be announced before the heat commences. Anglers must report to the weigh-in point no longer than 15 minutes after the finishing time.

During the Competition:-

Starting peg positions will be drawn before the start of the heat event (Bank fishing only heats)
Each competitor must move a peg clockwise every 30 minutes during the match.
No encroachment on another competitors peg if they are into fish, you must wait your turn.
If you have reached your limit before the end of the heat, stop fishing as there will be no time bonuses allowed.
Do not return to the car park. All fish caught must be handed in to the weigh in station before returning to your car.

If the fishery allows it, catch and release can be undertaken until the heat has been finished, but any fish caught will be counted towards your total bag weight.  Each additional fish will be counted at 2lb.

Any infringement of the above rules the competitor will be disqualified. The organisors of the events decision is final when deciding on any infringement.

Technical Rules

The competition shall be fished by artificial fly only and the following rules shall apply:
No tandem style flies may be used.
Weighted flies may be used.
No more than 4 flies on a cast.
Flies will be single hooks and not exceeding 1¼ inches.
All fish less than 11 inches to be returned.

Rods: - Only one rod to be used at a time, a spare rod can be at hand but not set up. Rods must always be held above water level.

The ASSF and WaterAid would be grateful if each competitor could raise as much individual sponsorship money as they can for WaterAid. If you want to know more about WaterAid please visit their website at www.wateraid.org/uk
