WaterAid/ASSF Fly Fishing Competition 2009
Markle Fisheries Event Report
Saturday 5 September 2009
There was 23 fishermen/women taking part in this years WaterAid Flyfishing Competition at Markle Fisheries on Saturday 5 September 2009.
The weather was not very good a bit windy and overcast which made the fishing a bit hard at times.
Over the past 4 days the heavy rain and blustery shower had made the Markle Loch extremely cloudy due to the farmer plowing his field and the rain washing the earth into the fishery, but it did not stop some cracking fish from being caught.
The competition was fished to Markle Fishery rules, with a three bag limit plus catch and release (each fish caught on catch & release counted as 2lb to the total weight). There were 43 fish caught for 102lb 15oz.
Many thanks to Jonathan Swift and Jimmy at the fishery for all their help on the day and everyone who took part in the competition.
The grand total raised for WaterAid from the event was £415.00.
